Steven Donahue has been a professional photographer since 1965, working in all fields of photography. After graduating from a small arts school in Chicago, he worked for a commercial photographer whose major client were McCall’s Magazine and major food manufacturer’s in the Chicago area. He later worked for two custom photo labs who did printing for advertising agencies. Steve was drafted into the Army and served as a Military Police photographer. After serving in the Army Steve worked and showed his photographic work in galleries in Chicago and in Michigan.
He has lived and worked in New Mexico since 1979. Since 1985, his business, Central Photographic Service, has offered custom black & white lab service to a varied clientele, including professional photographers and Museums throughout the State.
At present, he uses the studio for doing portraits and creating photographs for art work such as his goddess series. He is working on a pictorial book about his life in a farm community in Michigan during the 1970s.
Steven is the director of the co-op and along with other members will be teaching classes such as darkroom printing and alternative processing. He also processes and prints black & white photos for those who still use film cameras.
